Collection of Psychological and Pedagogical Tests

The bibliographic data of all 1400 tests presented in the Media Resource Center / Testothek located in T1 have been recorded digitally. As of now, title lists arranged by area of application are available online. Along with the bibliographic data come, where necessary, further information on special using options (proof of qualification) or links leading to more information on the test itself (e.g., via "Hogrefe Testzentrale" or especially the database segment "PSYNDEXplus Tests").
On top of that, the check of availability (loan status) has been realized. This is an improvement in comfort, since up to now this information could only be given locally in the Media Resource Center. These lists build a complete record of the library's holdings, whereas the library catalogue only contains newer ones.

New Scanning Feature and Book Copiers

Foto: Copier with Scanning FeatureAs of now the colour printers in the departmental libraries enable to scan documents. The prize for one page DIN-A4 is 1 Cent. Just like copies and printouts the amount due is debited to your "Mensakarte" or your temporary TDM card.

The scanned document will be available as a file in the download area of the TDM website for 48 hours at the most. Printed user guides can be found at each copy machine, electronic versions are provided on the TDM Website, in the selection menu filed under "Scannen"

Foto: Book CopierIn addition, each departmental library and the Special Reading Romm have been equipped with special book copiers ("Bookeyes"). These machines enable gentle copying of books in particular by scanning from above. Scanned pages can be printed out directly on a connected printer located alongside. The cost for one page DIN-A4 is 4 Cent.

The previously provided PCs with scanning function have been dismantled because these new ones offer a wider range of functionality.

Please note: after a transitional period of two years, the paper copycheck cards have become invalid on June 30. A refund of balances is not possible.

Journals of the German Enlightenment - Digitization Project Completed For Now

The library's project

"Retrospektive Digitalisierung wissenschaftlicher Rezensionsorgane und Literaturzeitschriften des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts aus dem deutschen Sprachraum" (Retrospective Digitization of Scientific Review Organs and Literary Magazines of the 18th and 19th Century in the German-speaking Area)

which was funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) within its "Cultural Heritage" programme has for now been completed. The current follow-up project term has been two years:

www.ub.uni-bielefeld.de/diglib/aufklaerung/

From 2000 to 2003 and 2006 to 2008, 160 German-language journals from the epoch of the German Enlightenment until the beginning of the 19th century have been digitized.
The included review organs and general interest journals cover every subject - such as literature, fine arts, philosophy, theology, law, history, economics and science and represent a cross section of the rich journal market of that time. Thus they allow a synoptical access to this communication medium, which is typical for the period in question.
The first and foremost criterion for the selection of the periodicals for the project was their appearance in the "Index deutschsprachiger Zeitschriften 1750 - 1815" worked out by the Akademie der Wissenschaften (Academy of Sciences) zu Göttingen.

The periodicals are presented as digital images and are freely available on the web. Apart from only few exceptions each journal is completely available comprising all its volumes ever published. This equals some 967,000 scanned pages and 118,250 articles.
Users may access individual journals either by browsing the list of volumes and the tables of contents linked to each one or use the provided search tool, which allows searching single articles or reviews. The functionality of the search tool is based on the bibliographic data which have been worked out from the included articles.

The project was carried out in cooperation with the Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen and Georg Olms Verlag AG (publisher):
The bibliographic data of the journal articles have been produced during the indexing project "Index deutschsprachiger Zeitschriften 1750 - 1815" of the Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen, which was funded from 1975 until 1987 by the Stiftung Volkswagenwerk and the DFG.
Olms Verlag supplied the microfiche editions of the respective journals.

The online editions of the journals are recorded in the library catalogue.
