User name: Number on your library card with "version number" (last cipher of your library card number) - omit the "#" sign, e.g. 01234561 or 12345671 Password: You will get the password on collecting your library card. Bielefeld University students use the password of the University Computing Center which is printed on their "Leporello". Consider the spelling with capital or small letters! The password can be changed by using the change password option in your loan account. The change will be realised immediately and is effective for the metasearch, interlibrary loan and internet access as well. For non-members of Bielefeld University unfortunately internet access from PCs in the library is not available. Questions concerning your password? The Reference Department will be glad to assist! |
| E-Learning (Stud.IP) | User-ID valid for the services offered by the University Computing Center (Assigned user name plus computing center password). This password can only be changed in the user administration of the computing center. In case of problems please refer to the computing center help desk. |
| Printing documents in the library | Precondition: a Service-Card or temporary Service Center card is needed (refer to the Studentenwerk booth in the hall or the Service Center office, which is situated in U1-132, open Mon-Fri, 9-17 hrs.) Previous to the first use of the card, it needs to be registered. Then enter the card number; if you use the Service-Card omit the slash and the cypher behind it. |
After login you can check all information concerning your media transactions (due dates, overdue fees, reservations) and possible interlibrary loan charges. If applicable, you may renew media by yourself.

The metasearch allows you to search numerous licenced databases and library catalogues simultaneously. You can use the metasearch and access the licenced databases on campus without Login. Members of Bielefeld University can use licenced resources from home or take advantage of advanced options after personal login to the metasearch.

After login you can order books or articles which are not available at Bielefeld UL via interlibrary loan.
Further information
Within the premises of the library internet access is restricted to sites of Bielefeld University and some other, selected science related sites. In order to use external links and services, you need a personal Login.
Internet access in the library
Stud.IP is a web based electronic teaching and learning environment offered by Bielefeld University Library. A number of classes taught at Bielefeld University are supplemented with Stud.IP, which offers information online as well as communication and feedback facilities. To use all utilities of Stud.IP, you need an user-id.

You can print documents from the computers located in the library. If you want to use this service, you need a Service Card or temporary Service Center card. Printing is possible
at any colour photocopier equipped with a card reading device. Library personnel will be glad to assist you.
