Some of our books are shelved in special areas of our departmental libraries, the rare book collection and the closed stacks.
These books are not freely accessible, but you can order these books at the circulation desks. These orders are free of charge. Your ordered books can be picked up twice a day at the circulation desk of the departmental library of linguistics and literary studies (entrance C1). In the library catalogue, titles from the rare book collection and the closed stacks are marked with the classification numbers 88 and 99.
The special reading room at the reference department is reserved for the usage of rare and protected books. Protected books are such from special collections of departmental libraries, the rare book collection (classification number 88) and the closed stack (classification number 99). Books ordered via interlibrary loan that do not circulate can also be used here. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9.00 - 18.00 hrs.
