Teacher Training Bachelor at Advanced Secondary and Comprehensive School (GymGe)

In the program for advanced secondary and comprehensive schools (GymGe), you will study two subjects, one as a major subject and one as a minor subject, as well as Educational Sciences (Advanced Secondary and Comprehensive Schools ('Gymnasium' and 'Gesamtschule')). You can choose from the following subjects: English Studies, Biology, Chemistry, French (cannot be combined with Spanish), German Languages and Literatures, History, Latin (only as a minor), Mathematics, Education as a School Subject (only as a minor, cannot be combined with Sports Sciences), Philosophy, Physics, Social Sciences, Spanish (cannot be combined with French) and Sports Science (cannot be combined with Education as a School Subject). You will write your Bachelor's thesis in your major subject toward the end of your Bachelor course.

The choice of major subject and minor subject has no effect on your career opportunities or your later employability in school. In the master's program, the number of hours between the major and minor subjects will be balanced, i.e. you will then study your minor subject to a greater extent and the major subject to a lesser extent. The higher weighting of your major subject in the Bachelor's program is primarily intended to give you direct approval for a Master's program in your major subject if you decide to change your career path from "teacher".
