Data Collection and Data Storage

When you visit any Website, your browser always sends information on the type of browser it is, which version it is running, which operating system is being used, the referrer URL, the IP address, the file names, the access status, how much data is transferred, the date, and the time of the server request. This data is stored and used exclusively to identify and pursue unauthorized attempts to access the Web server. It is not compared with other datasets or passed on to third parties. The data is stored for a maximum of one month, analysed statistically in an pseudonymous form, and then simply deleted.

The web presence of Bielefeld University Library includes serveral personalized services. In order to subscribe to the library's newsletter or to use your loan account, patrons may enter their email address. They use these services explicitly on a voluntary basis. Of course, the data are solely used for the stated particular purposes and will not be passed on to third parties. As soon as you delete the email address in your loan account or unsubscribe from the newsletter, the address will be deleted in the system as well.
