Library Cards

The library card (UniCard) allows you to borrow items from the University Library or use the interlibrary loan. Please bring your library card with you each time you visit the library.

Collect your UniCard at the Help Desk (Infopunkt) in the university main hall.

Your student ID is also your library card.

3 steps to your new student ID

Students with disabilities (GdB minimum 50%): On presenting a severely handicapped pass at the Central Lending Department and on application you will be granted special loan conditions.

Collect your UniCard (library card) at the Help Desk (Infopunkt) in the university main hall.

Please present your ID card or your passport with a current semester certificate when collecting your card.

Your official ID is also your library card.

4 steps to your UniCard for staff

Professors and academic staff who hold a UniCard may apply for a second card. For further information, please contact the Central Lending Department.

Temporary lecturers

Apply for a card online (please upload a photo in passport format by clicking ). You will need to collect your library card from the Central Lending Department.

Please present your ID card or your passport with a current registration certificate when collecting your card.

On presentation of a certificate (PDF) of your institution special loan conditions will possibly be granted.

External users (with a residence in Germany) / students of other universities

Minor users need a declaration of consent (PDF) signed by their parents or legal representation

What to do in case of …?

Loss of UniCard

You can block the UniCard online or contact the staff at the Help Desk (Infopunkt) in the university main hall or at the Central Lending Department. The replacement fee for students and external users is 10€. Replacement for employees is free of charge.

Loss of bar code card

Please report the loss immediately at the Central Lending Department in order to get your account blocked for borrowing. The replacement fee for students and external users is 10€. Replacement for employees is free of charge.

Change of address

Please report your change of address immediately for your own good. Students inform the Studierendensekretariat (Student Office) about their new address, employees the personnel department of the University, external users the Central Lending Department

Enter / Change of email address

The loan account has the option to enter / change the email address so that you receive notifications of the University Library.
