Password Protected Services
For using some of the library services you need a personal login.
Where do I login and how does it work?
Login wither User-ID. Number on your UniCard (back, left) or library card (omit the "#" sign) and library password.
Bielefeld University students use the password of the BITS (University IT-Service-Centre). Others use the password, you have choosen at the online registration in the "Identity Management".
The password can be changed by using the change password option in your loan account. The change will be realised immediately and is effective for the metasearch, interlibrary loan and internet access as well.

User-ID valid for the services offered by the BITS (assigned user name plus BITS password).
This password can be changed in the university's identity management (PRISMA) or the user administration of the BITS. In case of problems please refer to the BITS help desk (V0-215). For changing your password you need your identity card.
For which services do I need a password?
After login you can check all information concerning your media transactions (due dates, overdue fees, reservations) and possible interlibrary loan charges. If applicable, you may renew media by yourself.
The metasearch allows you to search numerous licenced databases and library catalogues simultaneously. You can use the metasearch and access the licenced databases on campus without Login. Members of Bielefeld University can use licenced resources from home or take advantage of advanced options after personal login to the metasearch.
After login you can order books or articles which are not available at Bielefeld UL via interlibrary loan.
Within the premises of the library internet access is restricted to sites of Bielefeld University and some other, selected science related sites. In order to use external links and services, you need a personal Login.
