As a member of Bielefeld University you can access licensed library services (subject databases, e-books) from off-campus via Shibboleth or VPN.
More and more external providers are enabling access to licensed offers via the authentication service Shibboleth. If, for example, a publishing house offers access via Shibboleth, members of Bielefeld University can log in to the provider with their BITS account and directly access offers licensed by us.

What is VPN?
VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a software that allows students and staff of Bielefeld University to log in worldwide with their BITS identification from any Internet access point. They are then virtually on campus and can also use the services free of charge whose access is normally restricted to the campus.
