Reinhold Decker, born in 1960, holds a degree in industrial engineering and completed his doctorate (1993) and habilitation (1997) at the University of Karlsruhe (KIT) in business data analysis.
He has been Professor of Business Administration, in particular Marketing, at Bielefeld University since 1997. His current research interests include the analysis of consumer behavior (esp. in social media), the use of artificial intelligence in marketing and market research as well as marketing for intelligent products and systems. He has worked as a guest researcher and lecturer at the Moscow Academy of Economics, the Université Paris III – Sorbonne Nouvelle, the University of Maryland and the University of Vienna, among others. Reinhold Decker is the author and co-author of numerous articles on marketing and data analysis in scientific journals, conference proceedings and edited volumes as well as author and co-editor of scientific works on related topics. He has been active in various areas of academic self-administration since 1997 and was, among other things, Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs and Resources from October 2012 to September 2015, Vice-Rector for Information Management from October 2015 to November 2019 and Vice-Rector for Information Infrastructure and Business Relations from December 2019 to October 2023. Since October 2023, he has been Rectorate Representative for Cooperations with Business, BRIC and Research Transfer.
