Transcending Boundaries
At Bielefeld University, research means transcending boundaries - between disciplines, between people and between science and society.
Our guiding principle of Transcending Boundaries is the impulse for top-level basic research at an international level. Four thematic strategic research areas define the University’s profile. These focus on the major questions of our time and have their applications in society and the economy. All research worlds involve different faculties and scientific departments and realize interdisciplinary top-level research on an international level in joint research projects as well as through third-party funding. Researchers from the Faculty of Technology are involved in the research worlds Material World: Systems and Structures and Socio-Technical World: Interactive Intelligent Systems.
