BITS operates a campus-wide wired data network (LAN). The underlying technology of the LAN is based on the Ethernet standard. IPv4 and IPv6 are used as network protocols throughout the campus. The LAN has a connection to the Internet. The Internet connection is protected by a firewall.
Users can connect terminal devices to the data network via the LAN and use the services offered there.
Employees who wish to connect their workstation computer to a network socket should first contact the respective IT supervisor to initiate the activation process for the corresponding network socket.
