Connections to Bielefeld University via VPN can only be established using the VPN software AnyConnect from Cisco. Its configuration is described below for the Windows operating system.

1.

Open the link -> https://vpn-gate-1.uni-bielefeld.de with any browser and log in there with BITS username and password.

The operating system is automatically detected and the software must be downloaded.

3.

Open the downloaded installation file.

4.

Click on Next here.

5.

Accept the license terms and select Next again.

6.

The installation is started via Install.

7.

If this message appears, confirm with Yes.

8.

Finish completes the installation.

Installation on mobile devices (iphone/iPad, Android)

AnyConnect can also be available on mobile devices with the iOS and Android operating systems.

• Search for the app "Cisco AnyConnect" and install it.
• Enter the server address "vpn-gate-1.uni-bielefeld.de".
• Enter the BITS user name and password when establishing the connection.
