Project management and task management with Jira

Jira is a task management and project management tool that can be used in a wide variety of use cases.

Deployment times

Once the license has been issued by the Service Desk, this service can be used immediately.

Request

The application for Jira licenses must be submitted by the respective project manager to the BITS Service Desk with the following information:

  • Project name:
  • Abbreviation which will be placed in front of the ticket numbers (3 to 10 digits, letters and numbers only):
  • Desired Jira template (choose one!).

Task types: Bug, Task, Subtask, Story, Epic
Workflow: To Do, In Progress, Done.

Kanban software development:
(Optimize development flow with a board. Integration with source and build tools.)
Task Types: Bug, Task, Subtask, Story, Epic
Workflow: Backlog, Selected for Development, In Progress, Done.

Simple Software Development:
(Track development tasks and bugs. Integration with source and build tools.)
Task Types: Bug, Task, Subtask, Enhancement, New Feature, Epic
Workflow: To Do, In Progress, In Review, Done.

If additional staff, people are also to use Jira after the initial application for a project, they must first be assigned a license by the Service Desk.

To do this, the staff, people responsible for the project must provide the following data by e-mail.

  • First and last name:
  • BITS login name (web shibboleth):
  • Email address:


Then the person responsible for the project adds these to the project itself.

Duty to cooperate

Basic knowledge is assumed for the use of Jira.
